these milestone plaques are extra special because 20% of every set purchased goes to orca conservancy. since 1996, ORCA CONSERVANCY has worked tirelessly to
recover the southern resident killer whale population throughout their habitat range. orcas, specifically the southern residents, are very near and dear to my heart. you may remember when tahlequah [j35] made the news in 2018 for carrying her dead baby on her back for 17 days... she has since had her rainbow baby [sept 2020], but she and the rest of the southern resident orcas need our help to rebuild their habitats and get their numbers back up. there are only 74 killer whales as of october 2020 in the southern resident population, only 3 more than there were in 1974 when the first complete count took place.

engraved on 1/8" maple plywood + 3.5" in diameter. hand-sanded.

spot clean with mild soap and warm water, vinegar or another non-toxic cleaning spray. DO NOT SOAK or IMMERSE. wood is porous, soaking may lead to swelling and warping.
